The Nolensville Historical Society is proud to announce that we have been selected as a
2023 and 2024 Americana Corner Preserving America Grant Program recipient!
The program was established to assist non-profit organizations like NHS in telling the incredible
story of America from its founding era through its first century as a nation.
Grant funds will be used to help restore the Morton-Brittain House which was originally
built in 1870 as a two-story home. Although a tornado in early 1900 felt she should become a
one-level home, we can see evidence of her second story throughout the renovation process.
Please visit Americanacorner.com for details.
Thank you, Tom Hand, for your vision preserving America's history
as this in turn helps us preserve Nolensville's history.
Did you know...the Nolensville Historic School land was purchased from the Brittain family in the mid 1930's by the community of that time, raising funds for the county to purchase the land?
The community raised funds for the land, and the county paid for the school to be built!

The Morton House around 1870, was a two story house, prior to being hit by a tornado in the early 1900s, making it a single story home.
The Brittains owned the house around 1890.

Now that the Morton-Brittain House has been moved to its new location, and placed on a permanent foundation, the restoration process will begin. For this next phase, we will be recruiting NHS and non-NHS folks to help with all aspects of the project. If you would like to be a part of this multi-year effort, please download and complete the forms below and return them as soon as possible to the Nolensville Historical Society. If you have friends or family that would also like to get involved, please share this information with them.
This will be a very important and fun project for the NHS. It will have multiple opportunities for everyone to become involved. Please read through the survey form to determine how your talents can best be used in helping us complete this project, and then mail the forms to the The Morton Brittain House, c/o Nolensville Historical Society, 7248 Nolensville Road, Nolensville, TN 37135. We look forward to working with you!
Thank you,
